Making Your Transition to Academic Life Easier
The University College of Virginia State University is the main academic resource for students at VSU. It includes the First Year Experience Program and the Student Enhancement and Support Center, and offers a broad range of services to all students. These include academic advising and personal life coaching, one-on-one remediation, study rooms, a computer lab and more. Additional details can be found in the University College’s separate section of the VSU website or by clicking here.
The University also has several programs geared toward specific student populations. These include veterans and international students. You will find more about these two programs in this section.
Here, you’ll also learn about our Writing/ePortfolio Studio which offers writing expertise and services to the entire VSU community, including all students, faculty and staff. The studio, located in Harris Hall, provides one-on-one writing support by appointment and to walk-ins (walk-ins are only served if available consultants do not have appointments). The studio also offers 24-hour online support, writing resources and a free computer lab.
Faculty members are also welcome to schedule times to bring their classes to the studio, where students will learn about the services offered, the computer software, and more.
