Public Relations & Marketing Specialist IV
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The incumbent will develop and coordinate all sports public relations activities and programs. Prepare and edit materials promoting interest in the athletic teams for release to the various media sources. Compile and maintain statistics on teams and individual student athletes. Input rosters, schedules, statistics, and student-athlete information into the VSU, CIAA and NCAA on-line reporting systems for each of the 16 sports and update Athletic website daily. Oversee all press box and press row operations for all home athletic events. Serve as the official source for statistics and general information describing the Athletic Department, teams and programs.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Considerable knowledge of public relations, publicity, printing and design, electronic media and publication principles, concepts and techniques in order to prepare schedule cards, programs, media guides, brochures, posters, and rosters. Considerable knowledge of public information and public relations principles and practices. Demonstrated ability to maintain manual and electronic records (to include photographic). Demonstrated ability to compile, analyze and maintain statistical data. Demonstrated experience as an announcer. Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office Suite and Internet Website maintenance. Excellent oral communication skills in order to respond to requests from news media, CIAA Conference, NCAA, and other Sports Information Offices. Must possess strong organizational skills. Demonstrated ability in the usage of automated scorebook statistical software packages, such as Statcrew. Bachelor’s degree in related field, or an equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.
PREFERRED: Master’s degree in related field or any combination of education, experience and training.
