Information Technology Specialist II
The Project Manager will be responsible for enterprise-wide Information Technology (IT) projects in the Portfolio Project Management Office (PPMO). The selection candidate will provide IT project management from definition and planning through to completion ensuring deadlines are met and within established budget guidelines. This position reports to the Director of Project Manager.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Prepare project documents such as project charter, cost analysis, risk assessment, agency procurement request, project organizational structure, project close-out, and project plans. Updating and maintaining the overall project schedule, with input from other team members. Provide the senior management and functional team leads with periodic status information, based upon the schedule, including schedule variances. Maintain risks and issues tracking log and generate periodic project performance metrics, in coordination with the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK). Provide the CIO with project level reporting of cost, schedules, and performance measures by using project management tools. Maintain the team collaborative site in Microsoft SharePoint Portal, including the project document repository. Assist to coordinate and support project document preparation and/or updates. Facilitate the dissemination of information to end-users and stakeholders, as part of the overall communications and change management process. Perform coordination of VITA IT staff augmentation and consulting services and resources for multiple IT projects using the Computer Aid, Inc PeopleClick system. Perform financial and budget development and management of IT funds. Enter requisitions in the Banner Procurement System (eVA) and Small Purchase Charge Card (SPCC).
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Master’s degree highly preferred or Bachelor’s degree with equivalent combination of education and experience required in project management; 5-8 years experience in information technology. Demonstrate the ability to direct and manage small to mid-size scale IT projects in an organized or disciplined manner. Ability to work independently and as a member of a team for the completion of IT projects. Ability to multi-task. Proficient in project management tools; experience in Microsoft Project and/or Commonwealth Technology Portfolio/VITA Prosight. Well organized and capable of tracking, managing, and resolving issues on multiple projects simultaneously. Excellent written and verbal communications at all levels (senior management, technical/business-oriented project staff, users and stakeholders). Strong business analytical skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience working in a higher education setting. PMP or CAPM certified preferred. ITIL v3 Certification preferred.
