Information Technology Specialist III
The Network Services Engineer will manage all efforts in support of the University’s data and network environment to include provisioning, management, administration and troubleshooting of the data network and infrastructure. This position will report directly to the Deputy Chief Information Officer (CIO) of IT Operations.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Network Services Engineer will provide technical leadership and infrastructure support to include the Wide-area Network (WAN), Local-Area Networks (LANs), Wireless Distribution Systems (WDS), Remote Access Services (VPN), Network Security (Firewall and Network Access Control (NAC)), Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP), and network management and administration. The selected candidate will program, configure, and maintain computer hardware and software components of complex, highly available, highly redundant enterprise computing systems, including SAN storage systems that provide site to site data replication/failover, as well as, systems that provide basic services such as Microsoft Exchange, collaboration suites, remote access, web services, and database services. The individual will participate or provide consultation to the CIO, committees, user groups or special IT seminars that support the University’s information technology operations.
Considerable experience in installing, maintaining, and configuring data network and/or network services such as routers, switches, hubs, servers, firewall, fiber optic cable, coax cable, cooper cable, voice and data security systems, fire alarms, and intercom systems. Considerable experience in leadership as a team leader, manager, or supervisor. Considerable experience in installing, maintaining, configuring, and troubleshooting Windows servers and other server platforms, Cisco and Juniper devices and other LAN/WAN devices, video network systems, wireless access points, remote access, voice systems, and messaging systems. Must possess strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Ability to quickly analyze data and problem solve.
ITIL, MCSE, CCNA, CCNP, CCIE, or CNE Certification. Experience in implementing and supporting a network infrastructure in a higher education environment.
