Assistant Professor Textile, Apparel & Merchandising
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Teaching undergraduate courses in Fashion Merchandising and Design, Textiles, Apparel Production and Management. Candidates must exhibit expertise in the practice , history and theory of Fashion Design while also being able to engage with students and colleagues across a range of disciplines; should innovatively utilize pedagogical methodologies to stimulate students’ interest in all facets of Fashion and be innovative relative to required skills and proficiencies required to respond to a complex 21st Century global conditions; must execute all student affairs related to advising Fashion Merchandising and Design, Textiles, Apparel and Management undergraduate students; must participate in curriculum development; will conduct a consistent program of research; will provide leadership as faculty advisor for student groups; and will participate on departmental committees.
Candidates must have an earned doctorate or ABD status with at least one graduate degree or equivalent in Fashion Merchandising, Design, Textiles, and Management; also should possess expertise and ability to teach general courses in Fashion Merchandising and Design, Textiles, Apparel Production, and Management is required; must have demonstrated knowledge of the Family and Consumer Sciences discipline and/or experience working in a Family and Consumer Sciences Department or equivalent; candidate should have experience teaching and advising at college/university level; must have experience with research in Fashion Merchandising, Textiles, Apparel, and Management; must have demonstrated ability to cultivate and maintain apparel industry contacts and commitment to and/or expertise in educating a diverse student population; and incumbent must possess a strong record of teaching experience.
Prior experience in higher education, and curricula development and management is preferred. Also, work experience in fashion industry is preferred.
