ASSISTANT/ ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop a nationally recognizable research program on identification, selection, breeding, and improvement of specialty crops. Develop improved cultivars of established crops, or identify new specialty crops with functional, therapeutic, or nutritional benefits to human health, or for industrial use. Develop or adapt technologies to facilitate increased adoption and production of specialty crops. The successful candidate will disseminate research findings through scientific journals and other peer-reviewed publications; contribute to development and implementation of appropriate undergraduate and graduate programs at Virginia State University; and participate in department, school, and university service and outreach.
Ph.D degree in Agronomy, Horticulture, Crop Science, Plant Breeding or closely related field, and demonstrated ability to design and conduct publishable research in plant sciences. Other requirements include computer literacy, excellent written, verbal communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
