1st Annual Conference on Social Injustice: In the Pursuit of Change

Call for Papers
The first annual conference of the Department of Sociology, Social Work and Criminal Justice of Virginia State University will be held at the University campus.

The 2013 conference will focus on "Social Injustice” in any aspect of individual, group, organizational and societal environments and situations. Papers can focus on any of the above stated broad categories or sub-categories - ethnicity, class, gender, religion, politics, economic, sexual orientation, health care, environmental or any related international, national or regional issues of injustice. In general, papers of differing theoretical and methodological issues, expositions of various approaches, case studies and reports from empirical observations and researches will be welcomed.
This conference does not belong to any one framework - rather it welcomes all different opinions and views to overcome and understand the basic issues and problems of social injustices that occur under any given societal environment and situation.
Conference Participants
The conference is multi-disciplinary that covers but not limited to agriculture, business, criminology (including criminal justice) business, economics, environmental science, health, humanities, psychology, sociology, social work or any other fields facing social injustices.
Submission of Proposals
- Abstracts of 250 words should be submitted to the Conference Website (address: ) indicating any of the following options:
- Individual or co-authored papers
- Roundtables
- Thematic panels of two or more scholars
- Posters and papers from undergraduates and graduate students.
Electronic Submissions are due by 11:59 p.m. Monday February 4, 2013.
Registration
Registration can be completed by sending a statement of intention to participate to the conference chair. Please include your name, address and institutional affiliation.
The Registration fee is $30 per participant and is free for students.
Conference Proceedings
Papers will be edited and published as online conference proceedings. In addition, authors may resubmit their papers for review and publication in the “International Journal for Social Science Research and Practice,” a peer reviewed journal published by the Department.
