50th Anniversary Coalition for Jobs, Justice and Freedom

The 50th Anniversary Coalition for Jobs, Justice and Freedom has announced plans for a 7-day commemoration of the historic 1963 March on Washington and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s "I Have a Dream" speech. The commemorative program, schedules for August 21-28, 2013 on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., includes: a mass march along the historic 1963 route; a "Global Freedom Festival." featuring presentations by social change organizations; the "King Global Collegiate Leadership Summit;" an Ecumenical Worship Service; a tribute to Dr. King's Dream; and the "Let Freedom Ring" Bell-Ringing Ceremonies in Washington, across the nation and throughout the world.
Virginia State University will participate by ringing the chimes at 3:00pm on Wednesday, August 28, 2013. Also Fred Thompson, CAO of Thompson Hospitality and John Griffin, Food Services Director will participate. Dr. Phillips will be ringing the chimes.
