Student-Community Engagement Program

In 2011, the Cameron Foundation awarded VSU with a $100,000 grant that established Community Service Ambassadors to work with agencies in the greater Petersburg area.

This new program, part of President Miller's "Building a Better World" initiative, is a central focus of the University's outreach mission of addressing issues of poverty, high school attendance and dropout rates The Ambassadors serve two-semester terms and are paid a stipend for participating in projects with that range from one day, one weekend or ongoing timeframes. The Ambassadors are required to complete site evaluations and written or creative reflections on each project completed.
