Technology Services (formerly known as Office of University Technology and Office of Information Technology) was renamed in July 1, 2010 to align IT services with business strategic goals and objectives.
It is a blended organization of in-sourced and out-sourced positions to include areas such as academic technology services, applications services, infrastructure and managed services, strategic management services, web services, project management, and financial services. Technology Services serves over 5,000+ students and 800+ faculty, staff, and administrators. It also serves as the critical infrastructure support for campus communications, provides major University systems required for University daily operations, and it is critical to the University’s strategic goal.
In Early February 2011, Mr. Hubert Harris arrived on the scene at VSU. His mission was clear, “I came to help VSU become a Digital Campus, where students can access data from anytime, anyplace and anywhere. We are lagging behind and because of this we are playing ‘catch-up’ with technology. We have to quickly close the gap in order to remain competitive.” With the support of VSU President and Administration, Technology Services is undertaking a number of new initiatives to improve technology on campus for students. Mr. Harris and his technology staff have accomplished much for the VSU Community.
