Registered Nurse Manager I

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Position will coordinate the university’s immunization program; will monitor health records to ensure students are in compliance with state immunization program; will follow, interpret, and ensure all students are properly immunized within health, safety practices, and standards; will provide direct patient care, including professional nursing assessments/treatments of routine and urgent outpatient problems during clinic hours and maintain confidentiality of medical matters; will represent University Health Center to external entities as assigned by the Director and promote positive interactions with students, parents, private health care providers and other university departments and visitor; will serve as Health Education Coordinator to ensure relevant programs are implemented throughout the academic year mainly for students but also faculty and staff members; will collaborate in health activities with organizations which the Student Health Center have signed MOUs; will generate a health-related quarterly newsletter for distribution to students, faculty and staff;  will order supplies and materials related to the Health Education program; will provide direct supervision to the Health Educator; will assist in development and establishment of operating goals, policies, and procedures, as appropriate; will recommend, implement, and administer methods and procedures to enhance operational effectiveness and efficiency; will assist the Director in providing in-service training such as enhancing customer service skills, Infection Control, HIPAA and CPR recertification for all staff members within the department; and will serve on special university and external committees upon request and other health services related duties as assigned.   

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

The successful candidate will be a Licensed Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia; successful completion of an accredited nursing program is required; Bachelor’s degree in Nursing and CPR/BLS Certification is required.  Supervisory experience and effective written and oral communication skills are required.  A Master’s degree in Nursing, Education, Behavioral Health or related field is preferred.
