Human Resource Analyst II
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Employee Relations Consultant will serve as a proactive change agent who will act as a consultant and coach to employees and manages in the area of employee relations. Promote consistency and fairness in all practices and demonstrate our values to ensure a positive work environment while mitigating risk for the University. We are looking for a professional Employee Relations Consultant who engages in constructive dialogue with supervisors, relates instructions and feedback of supervisors to personal knowledge, skills, and abilities and acknowledges and follows through on coaching and/or instruction related to performance correction, enhancement, and/or development.
The desired candidate will have considerable and comprehensive knowledge/experience regarding investigating, capturing, organizing and organizing facts and data while maintaining confidentiality and integrity on all employee relations issues such as complaints and managing conflict consultations consistently and promptly. Considerable knowledge/experience in investigating employee relations issues (demotions, terminations, performance management opportunities) as assigned. Extremely knowledgably in how to prepare final reports, written case summaries and collaborates with management and/or outside counsel to resolve issues including implementing disciplinary actions up to and including terminations. Considerable and comprehensive knowledge about the Commonwealth of Virginia’s Grievance Policy and Process.
The desired candidate is considered the University’s grievance coordinator and is responsible for preparing documents for grievance hearings as required. Also, provide objective and constructive guidance on interpretation and application of company policies and overall performance management. Responsible for creating content for training education and facilitates training as appropriate. Work with the Organizational Development Consultant to communicate with hiring managers to identify needs and mapping out development training plans for faculty and staff to take a proactive approach to employee engagement and employee relations. Evaluate success of training implementation by assessing achievement of learning objectives and transfer of knowledge to continuously improve training solutions and identify future learning needs to help with employee relations issues at the University. Provide regular reports and briefings to HR Director, Associate HR Director and VP of Finance & CFO regarding training. Provides strategic guidance and counseling on performance management initiatives; developing, coordinating and implementing the Annual Performance Planning and Evaluation process for the University faculty and staff. Work with leadership and hiring managers on performance evaluations standards which includes notice of Needs Improvement/Substandard Performance. Track all evaluations received from hiring managers and provide statistical data/reporting. Provide regular reports and briefings to HR Director, Associate HR Director and VP of Administration as appropriate. Work closely with the Compensation Analyst in drafting and maintaining Employee Work Profiles (EWP) electronically.
