Associate Director, HR Service Operations

Virginia State University, which strives to be an employer of choice in Virginia, has developed a new faculty administrator of an Associate Director, HR Strategic Solutions, acting as a senior-level strategic, consultative leader. This role is vital to continued attraction, development and process improvement at VSU, aligning the vision and strategy of our President and Board to create sustained HR services and systems that create a robust talent development program. The ideal incumbent will act as a senior generalist leader, designing and promoting HR Strategy in alignment with organizational goals, ensuring a high degree of customer satisfaction, organizational effectiveness, and ultimately student success.
This dynamic position will develop and implement human resource policies, processes and projects, providing proficient oversight management of a variety of HR Development functions and activities, including Employee Engagement and Satisfaction, Performance Management, and Employee and Leadership Development Programs, and HR Measures. This role will also be responsible for creating proactive programs to assure high employee engagement, development, and prevention of escalated employee relations concerns.
Requirements for this role include a Bachelor’s degree with course work in human resource management, business administration, public administration or a related field. Ten (10) or more years’ progressively hands-on, engaged experience in human resources leadership, with broad span of control including a combination of experience including leadership training, employee relations and employee development, or other related HR development disciplines.
A Master’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Public Administration, or related field is preferred. Experience in managing human resources operations in a higher education, state or federal agency environment and HRCI certification (SPHR/PHR) is also preferred. Training or certification in project management, or other HR development and assessment tools is also preferred.
